Creating my ideal city, Virentia, helped me understand that city planning is much more complex
than simply designing buildings or transportation systems. I learned that a successful city must
consider the emotional, environmental, educational, and social needs of the community. A city
should not only function efficiently, but also create spaces where people can feel safe, connected,
and respected.
During this project, I reflected deeply on the importance of sustainability and environmental
responsibility. I realized that transportation, housing, healthcare, and public spaces are all
connected. For example, if a city uses renewable energy and sustainable transportation systems,
pollution can decrease and people’s quality of life can improve. I also understood that green
spaces such as parks and gardens are not only decorative elements; they contribute to emotional
well-being and strengthen the relationship between humans and nature.
Another important lesson I learned was how education and healthcare influence the development
of society. While designing Virentia, I imagined schools that teach not only academic subjects but
also empathy, coexistence, and environmental awareness. I also considered hospitals that
combine modern science with ancestral wisdom because I believe both approaches can coexist
and support human well-being. This activity helped me think critically about how communities can
become healthier and more compassionate.
From a language perspective, this project challenged me to describe complex ideas and possible
solutions in English. I used vocabulary related to sustainability, urban planning, transportation,
architecture, and social development. I also practiced different grammar structures studied during
the course, such as present simple, present perfect, conditionals, and modal verbs. At the
beginning, it was difficult to organize all my ideas in another language, but little by little I became
more confident expressing abstract and thoughtful concepts.
I also believe this task contributed to my pedagogical growth because it encouraged creativity,
critical thinking, and communication skills. As a future professional, learning how to explain ideas
clearly and connect them to social and environmental issues is very valuable. This project showed
me that education can inspire reflection and encourage people to imagine better futures for
society.
Finally, I do feel more comfortable speaking in English now. Although I still make mistakes
sometimes, I feel more capable of communicating my thoughts and opinions with greater
confidence. This activity motivated me to continue improving my English because I realized
language is a powerful tool for sharing ideas, emotions, and solutions with others around the
world.
